By invitation of the Federation of Protestant Churches, the eighth General Assembly of the CPCE is gathering in Basel from September 13 to 18. The CPCE is the umbrella organization of 94 Protestant churches and roughly 50 million Protestants from over 30 countries in Europe.
The eight-member CPCE Council, which was elected yesterday, elected the Presidium for a six year term today. FSPC President Gottfried Locher was reelected as Executive President. Locher joined the Presidium in 2012 and has been Executive President of the CPCE since 2015.
“Let us bear witness to the Gospel with one unified voice,” said Gottfried Locher. “Neither one individual language nor one single culture can hold Europe together – it’s our shared values.”
In addition to Locher, Miriam Rose (D) and John Bradbury (GB) were elected to join the CPCE Presidium. The term will end with the ninth General Assembly of the CPCE.
